RKR POULTRY FARMS BREEDS GOOD SHOW QUALITY BIRDS. wE STAY TRUE TO THE BREED AND COLOR STANDARDS FOR OUR ALL OUR BIRDS.

Ameraucana chickens are recognized by the APA. This Breed has 8 recognized varieties: Blue Wheaten, Wheaten, Black, Buff, Blue, Brown Red, Silver, and White. Click here for the History and the standard information for this breed. Ameraucana chickens are not to be confused with Araucana chickens or Easter Egger chickens because they are different breeds.

We currently have the variety "Blue Wheaten" which we received as a gift from Papa and Granny who purchased them from Paul Smith in Texas. We raise standard (large fowl) Ameraucana chickens only. We do not raise bantam Ameraucana chickens. If you would like to purchase any Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs or chicks you need to be aware that the genetics for Blue Wheatens state that 50% of the eggs they lay will be Blue Wheaten, 25% will be Wheaten, and 25% will be a splash color (splash is not recognized for show).

Blue Wheaten Ameraucana incubating is finally done for the early winter /spring season 2011. Our two Blue Wheaten hens have given chicks for this year's exhibition season from our Blue Wheaten Rooster in abundance. It has been crazy around here with eggs incubating to chicks in the brooder boxes to building new coops. We now have the variety "Wheaten" and "Blue Wheaten" from these girls. Amazing enough, we only ended up with 1 splash pullet and 1 splash cockerel. We have reduced down a few show birds for this fall's poultry shows.

Our Blue Wheaten Rooster that we got from Paul Smith won Champion AOSB in the Spring Poultry Show in Little Rock this year! He had been molting and we were afraid he would not do well but by this show, he was sure looking good. Can't wait to take his son, EB, to the fall shows this year. EB is a Wheaten cockerel who hatched in January of 2011.

We will begin the breeding season for us again in the fall of this year and early 2012. Fertility has been slow this fall. We have chicks in the brooder room. If you would like to place an order for fertile eggs, please contact us.
